RAW WASTEWATER ADVISORY POSTING AT BAYFRONT BAYFRONT LIFT STATION FAILURE
On Sunday, July 25, 2021 the Bayfront Lift Station, located at 160 SW Bay Boulevard, shut down due to a valve malfunction inside the pump station. Wastewater operators responded, but the lift station spilled from approximately 2:00 A.M. Sunday until 12:13 P.M. Sunday. The lift station was returned to operation and is no longer spilling. The total quantity of raw sewage spilled is estimated to be 154,000 gallons.
Advisory signs have been posted at the dock near the intersection of SW Bay and SW Hatfield Drive warning of potential raw wastewater contamination. The postings will be removed when tests at the outfall and in the surrounding area indicate fecal levels are within acceptable limits.
