The Newport Public Library will be extending Library hours of operation beginning on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The Library’s hours will be 10 AM -5 PM Tuesday through Friday. Everyone who enters the library will have their temperature checked, be required to wear a mask or face covering, and physically distance.
When the Library is open for service, the public will enter and exit through the northeast, side entrance to the Library. The roof on the Newport Public Library started being replaced on Wednesday, June 16. Part of the sidewalk on Nye Street in front of the Library will be closed.
You will be able to browse the collection, pick up holds, sign up for a library card, check out items, use our public library computers, and printer, scanner, and fax capabilities. Computer use is on a first come, first served basis with a two-hour daily limit. You will be encouraged to pick up your holds inside the building. Library take out service from the staff door will continue only for a limited time. The Library building bookdrop will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Library’s meeting rooms and drive-up book drop will remain closed for the time being. Donations will not be accepted at this time.
