It’s taken a while but the Lincoln County Animal Shelter has taken a big step toward a brand new shelter at the south end of the Newport Airport. The site is well south of any airplane runway and access to it will be very direct from an access road from Highway 101.
The Lincoln County Commission Monday approved the tentative $2.5 million dollar facility and tentatively chose Dangermone Kaene Architects, LLC to get the ball rolling. Commissioners learned that there’s some further negotiating in the works but everyone seemed optimistic that a construction contract is on the horizon. No word yet on when the new shelter might be ready for a grand opening.
