(Newport Symphony Orchestra’s First Live in Person Event Since January 2020)
Join the NSO as we celebrate America’s Independence with our annual FREE community concert, Sunday, July 4, at 4:00 pm. The NSO Brass and Percussion, conducted by Adam Flatt, will perform the Fourth of July. The program takes place outdoors on the Newport Middle School Football Field. Seating will be on the field, so bring a blanket or outdoor beach/camping type chair.
The concert includes, “Fanfare for the Common Man”, tribute to Oregon Coast fishermen with “McKinney, Sailor’s Delight” along with tributes to members of the armed forces and much more music providing great personal pleasure to all attending.
From Music Director Adam Flatt, “We are glad that our annual Independence Day community concert returns live this year. Our stellar brass and percussion players will bring all the spark and spirit to the outdoor stage that the NSO summons every year in service to the Coast’s community spirit.”
This is the 17th consecutive season of July 4th concerts. Even during the COVID shutdown last July 4, a radio broadcast of a previous July 4th concert was presented to the community with the help of Yaquina Bay Communications.
This year due to COVID, there will be no food provided. The health and safety of our patrons, musicians, staff, and volunteers is our top priority. We will be adhering to current health and safety guidelines for large outdoor events. That will include sitting 6 feet distance from those not part of your group as well as mask wearing if not vaccinated.
This concert is made possible by the generous support of Oregon Coast Bank, Rogue Foundation, Mo’s Seafood & Chowder, Integrity Women’s Health and Wellness, Yaquina Bay Communications, Security Services, Oregon Arts Commission and James F. and Marion Miller Foundation.
