We still do not have a reopening date, but hope it will be soon!
With re-opening in mind, I want to reach out to each of you, and ask you for suggestions for Covid-19 safe programming, classes, activities, educational presentations, trips, hikes, games etc that you would like to see at the 60+ Center.
Volunteers are the heart of the Newport 60+ Activity Center. To keep the cost of membership down, the 60+ Center relies heavily on volunteers. I am needing people that would like to lead or teach classes, greet visitors in the lounge, plan parties and activities, work in the gift shop and in the office.
Pre-Covid, the 60+ Center had 37 programs that were offered throughout each week – this does not include all of the trips, or hikes or educational presentations that were offered monthly.
To become a volunteer, a background check is required. For those who will be leading exercise classes, certification paperwork for that particular class will be required along with being certified in CPR. The goal is to have all of the volunteers, classes, and activities programming in place so that when we are given the green light to re-open, people will have fun activities to participate in.
Did I forget to mention the Grand Re-Opening Party? As soon as I have any information about the Newport 60+ Activity Center re-opening, I will be sure to send out an email blast.
If anyone has any questions or suggestions, please send me an email, or give me a call at 541-265-9617.
Have an amazing day!
