Beefing up Newport’s Handling of Legislative Issues – Non-commissioners getting opinions from citizen volunteers
The City of Newport has one vacancy on its Group of Planning Commission Citizen Advisors. This group of was established to provide additional citizen input on legislative matters under the Planning Commission’s purview. The Group of Planning Commission Citizen Advisors (GPCCA) attend Planning Commission work sessions which are scheduled monthly on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 6:00 P.M.
The GPCCA consists of three non-voting individuals who are residents of Newport. Appointments are made by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Terms run for three years. The Planning Commission will interview interested citizens and make recommendations to the Mayor for appointment.

The application deadline is May 31, 2021. The Planning Commission will interview interested volunteers and forward recommendations to the Mayor for formal appointment.
