New Executive Director for Newport Performing Arts and Newport Visual Arts Center

Jason Holland, E.D.

OCCA Announces Jason Holland Will Take The Helm as Executive Director of the Coast’s Leading Arts Agency

NEWPORT, OR – Oregon Coast Council for the Arts announces that Jason Holland has been named executive director of the nonprofit devoted to supporting the arts along the coast as well as managing the Newport Performing Arts Center and the Newport Visual Arts Center.

Holland comes to OCCA after spending the past 18 years in various roles at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California. Most recently, Holland served as the Vice President for Community Engagement. In this role, he was charged with developing the department from the ground up—not only creating programming that supplemented and enhanced SCFTA’s season offerings, but also creating programming that focused on diversity and inclusion initiatives, including making the arts accessible for adults and youth with cognitive and physical disabilities. Holland also comes to OCCA with extensive experience in grant writing and stewardship as well as marketing.

“We are excited to welcome Jason to OCCA and to the Oregon Coast,” Akia Woods, Board President said. “His passion for the arts and his history of innovative leadership and community engagement make him the ideal person to lead the organization out of the pandemic and into a new phase of our growth.”

Holland has received several awards for his work in the arts and arts education from Alzheimer’s Orange County, United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County, and OC Parenting Magazine. He has also served on the board of Institute for Community Impact, Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and the Costa Mesa Playhouse. Holland holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Kansas and is working on his Master of Business Administration degree at Chapman University. Jason is a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate.

“I’m very excited to work with the dedicated Board and excellent staff at OCCA,” Holland said. “I’m so impressed by the arts and culture landscape in the greater Newport area and along the coast of Oregon.  I look forward to getting to know the artists and arts organizations throughout the region to find out how we can best support them and their talents when it’s safe to fully reopen our venues again.”
