2:30pm Report of two people on two canoes have run into some problems…possibly winds blowing the two boaters away from where they want to be. Further reports from the scene is that those in the canoes appear to be okay but there’s no easy place to come ashore. North Lincoln Fire Rescue is trying to figure out how to get to them. Might be rented kayaks.
2:43pm Wind is blowing from the northwest at up to 20 mph.
2:44pm Stranded kayakers appear to be about 20 yards off the bank on the south side of the bridge.
2:48pm One Fire Department rescuer is headed for the boats. Doesn’t appear anyone is in distress…just stranded due to wind and shallow water.
2:53pm One kayak is being towed to a dock. They’re getting ready to tow the other kayaker.
3:04pm Search and Rescue has it pretty much wrapped up. No injuries. Lesson learned: Know which way the wind is blowing before you head out on the water….
