8:50am Male body with a red shirt has been spotted floating face up under the crab pier near Rogue Brewery. Emergency responders are called.
9:06am Body spotted by responders drifting toward the end of the pier. About to be retreived with assistance from the Coast Guard.
9:11am Coast Guard is on scene preparing to retrieve the body. One rescuer inquired if CPR might be possible. Response from the Fire Chief: “The body’s been in the water for 45 minutes.”
9:21am Law enforcement has arrived on scene to assist in evaluating the situation. It’s not uncommon for someone not wearing a wet suit to fall or jump into cold winter waters causing the body to shut down almost immediately – then when medics arrive the body is re-warmed – the body responds and the patient survives. It’s a rare occurrence but it does happen.
