The Lincoln City City Council was a busy bunch Monday evening. The council briefly talked about something they never talk about – the U.S. Geological Service and how they’re waiting for “The Big One” (earthquake) that’s overdue based on historical records and how that bit of geological certainty will make quite an impression along the entire Oregon coast. After the next “big shaker” there will be crews reconstructing local bridges (where feasible) as well as highways and home repairs. So be prepared for it.
On a lighter note the City Council gave its blessing to upgrading the Recreation Center along with a new Teen Center. There are also big plans for Taft Park. The city is commissioning an archaeological survey, a topographical boundary and design for the new park in the Taft area. The plan includes city trail connections in certain areas, a REAL Dog Park, an outdoor nature play area for kids, and a delightful natural overlook of of mountains and the sea. All they need is to raise the money to get it all done.
