The Waldport City Council this week allowed three rather nice parcels to annex into the city of Waldport. The first annexation at 1577 Crestline Drive was on behalf of the Kulyak family. It means there are two next door neighbor residences that will join the city thereby contributing to the city’s property tax fund. The council was told by the city manager that the families didn’t give any reason for joining the city – they just wanted to be inside the city limits The Kulyak family will still pay property taxes but they’ll go largely to Waldport City Hall instead of Lincoln County.
The second annexation into the Waldport city limits was a donation by the Izaak Walton League. There are two sizeable naturalist parcels totaling 23 acres of parkland that includes lots of forest and trails with a pathway between the two parcels. Improvements to the property are being planned.
And the Waldport City Council learned that the city manager has found a reasonable configuration of affordable water meters for businesses and homes which will likely replace some of the town’s rather ancient residential and commercial water meters. Grant money is expected to help the city bring down the net price of the new meters. The city manager told the council that his office is working out the financial arrangements.
