As you no doubt are aware, the needs of those impacted by the wildfires persist. To increase accessibility to legal services Legal Aid has launched a Wildfire Disaster Relief Hotline: 844-944-2428. Hotline hours: Monday through Thursday (9am to 4pm) and Friday (9am to 11:30am).
Because wildfires impacted a number of counties besides Lincoln, Legal Aid is addressing these issues on a statewide basis. IF AN ISSUE IS WILDFIRE-RELATED, Legal Aid will consider cases that we usually do not handle. Wildfire-related legal issues that people may have could include (but wouldn’t necessarily be limited to):
- Appeals of FEMA denials
- Housing (owners and renters of manufactured homes; landlord/tenant issues)
- Consumer fraud
- Document replacement
- Debt issues (for example, debt that may need to be resolved before other remedies are available for wildfire victims/survivors)
- Power of Attorney
