Inmates not sentenced to death are still dying in unusually high numbers in Oregon prisons

When a lawbreaker is sentenced to prison for a number of years and the death penalty is NOT included in the sentence, one might wonder why so many inmates in Oregon’s prison system are dying. The reason? Covid-19.
A deadly situation is reportedly playing out in a number of prisons around Oregon, including a prison in Marion County. Defense attorneys in court made the case that based on the country’s massive Coronavirus pandemic, prisons should be thinned-out so that living conditions can be, if only, less lethal. Only recently has the prison system acquired Covid-19 vaccines in any great numbers. But for a substantial number of inmates, this move comes way too late. And the courts want these needless deaths to stop.
