Port of Toledo Commissioners name new General Manager.
The Port of Toledo Commissioners are pleased to announce they have hired Lorna Davis as the new General Manager. Davis will replace Bud Shoemake, who will be retiring at the end of January after 16 years with the Port.
Davis, served as the Executive Director for the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce from 2008 to 2017, prior to which she served as the Chamber’s Tourism Development Director from 2005-2008. “To say I am excited about working for the Port would be a huge understatement. Through the virtue of their vision, Bud’s leadership, a strong and supportive Commission, a stellar and dedicated staff, the Port has made remarkable achievements over the years. I am looking forward to continuing the positive momentum and fostering partnerships. The Port is a crucial economic contributor for the communities it serves, and Lincoln County. I am honored to serve in the place I call home.”
During Davis’ time with the Chamber, she served as the secretary of Yaquina Bay Economic Foundation, chaired the Destination Newport Committee, and served on many local and state boards and committees. Davis left the Chamber in the fall of 2017 to work for Travel Oregon and the Oregon Tourism Commission as the Global Sales Manager for Europe and India, where she oversaw 5 international contracting teams who promoted Oregon as a premier year-round destination for visitors. While at Travel Oregon, she served on the Port of Portland’s International Air Service Committee, working with airlines to develop and maintain air service from global destinations. Davis worked in a limited duration role managing the Pandemic Legislative Inquiries and Escalations team for the Oregon Employment Department.
Port of Toledo Commission Chair Chuck Gerttula says “the Port is fortunate to find someone of Lorna’s caliber and experience who is local and connected to our community. We are looking forward to a bright future under her leadership.”
Davis is a resident of Toledo and will start at the Port full-time on January 1st.
