Just a few updates from the Depoe Bay Chamber Chamber of Commerce
· Depoe Bay Community Fund
o Based on a comment in our recent survey, it appears there are some misunderstandings about the COVID grants we awarded a few months ago. I hope this helps clarify the process and outcome.
§ A committee of 5 reviewed all grant applications which resulted in 3 grant awards of $1500 each to local organizations including the Depoe Bay Food Bank, Depoe Bay Winery and Whale’s Tail Charters.
§ We did not require a match for any of these awards, but did offer to run a social media fundraising campaign (via over 6000 followers) for the Food Bank to help leverage their grant award and raise additional matching funds for them. Based on their request, we did a very heavy promotional campaign for the Witches of Depoe Bay event. On Halloween, they collected an historic amount of over $5000 (plus food). I just LOVE our dedicated witches and the generosity of our community. THANK YOU!
§ If you have any questions about the Community Fund or would like to apply, please follow this link and/or give me a call. We are always accepting applications.
· NEW Chamber Membership Benefits (Due in November)
o Based on results of a recent community survey, we are launching NEW Chamber Member benefits.
o Please see the 1 page attachment highlighting benefits deemed most important via the survey.
o Memberships are now due, so please use this application and payment link. You can use a credit card or request to receive an invoice.
o If you didn’t have a chance to complete our survey, please use this link.
It only takes a few minutes and helps us better understand your needs. THANK YOU!
· Holiday Events
o The Community Hall is closed indefinitely and we need to keep our community COVID-safe, so unfortunately, the Chamber board decided to cancel the annual holiday dinner that’s typically held in early December.
§ HOWEVER… we will still be having the tree lighting on Saturday November 28th at the whale fountain and harbor at 5:30 pm.
· Unfortunately, we will not be able to serve drinks and snacks as in the past.
· Please wear a mask and physically distance to keep everyone safe and healthy for the holidays.
I know things are still frustrating and uncertain. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help. Have a very HAPPY Thanksgiving and stay healthy, Laura,
