Update on House Fire in Gleneden Beach
Depoe Bay Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 6550 Carolyn Ave in Gleneden Beach next to the airport. Initial reports indicated the homeowner had set the fire intentionally inside the home. Sources say his family ran from the house while he remained inside.
Firefighters from several local fire departments converged on the scene and began shooting water at the burning home – then finding out that a man (or husband) was still inside.
Surrounding homes were evacuated because of the size of the fire. Deputies assisted Depoe Bay Fire, Newport Fire and North Lincoln Fire and Rescue in fighting the fire until they discovered the missing male. They found the homeowner inside the burning structure and still was able to pull him to safety. The man was rushed to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital for treatment of a combinations of injuries.
The property remained under law enforcement security for further investigation until October 6th when a search warrant was served on property. The case remains under investigation. Further information will soon be forthcoming.
