Over the weekend North Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a single-family residential structure fire located at 1140 SE Galley Ct. in Lincoln City. The house was occupied at the time by two adults and two small children. The fire claimed the life of an adult female, presumed to be the owner of the residence, and caused critical burns to an adult male.
The adult male had his clothes on fire as he escorted the two children out of the residence to safety. He was immediately transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital by Pacific West Ambulance and then on to the Oregon Burn Center, Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
First arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions from the front of the residence and were informed there was one person missing and still inside the building.
“Rescue mode” was the priority for the initial arriving engine company 10:34 PM, but the victim was not located until after the fire was extinguished at 11:03 PM. She was found deceased.
Firefighters and EMS personnel from Depoe Bay Fire, Pacific West Ambulance, and officers and dispatchers of Lincoln City Police Department were all involved in a very active and difficult situation.
The investigation is being conducted by Lincoln City Police, Newport Police, Oregon State Fire Marshal, and NLFR Fire Marshal to determine the origin and cause of the blaze.
