Newport residents and especially the fish plants are getting sufficient water again but only because temporary supplemental sand filtration equipment has taken over. The investigation continues into why the city’s long-running filter system suddenly decided to nearly stop working. But for the time being the by-pass system is producing enough water for Newport to “get by.”
Meanwhile the water filtration system vendor is trying to figure out why, all of a sudden, the system simply stopped working due to water filters clogging up within hours of being switched out.
It remains a “puzzlement.” Something in the water?????
