From Georgia-Pacific, owner, Olalla Lake
This is a reminder that Olalla Reservoir northeast of Toledo remains closed to the public indefinitely, including the July 4th weekend.
Georgia-Pacific (GP) owns the reservoir, the primary purpose of which is to provide production water to the company’s containerboard mill in Toledo. GP allows the public to use it for daytime recreation but reserves the right to close it any time.
Like many recreational areas throughout the state, the reservoir was closed as a precautionary response to COVID-19. The current closure began March 22. The reservoir will remain closed until the company determines it is safe to re-open; there is no timeline for doing so.
The barricade leading to the reservoir is locked and GP security personnel patrol the area. Trespassers will be reported to law enforcement.
GP urges the community to continue complying with public health measures to protect against COVID-19. We wish everyone a safe and healthy July 4 holiday.
