Lincoln County Foundation Appoints Executive Director
The Lincoln County Foundation Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Zagel as its first Executive Director. We feel that we have found the ideal candidate in Mr. Zagel as he is the former principal of Newport High School and possesses considerable knowledge and experience from his 30 years as a Lincoln County School District employee. In fulfilling our mission, we work closely with the high schools of LCSD, and we look forward to Mr. Zagel’s leadership in this endeavor. Additionally, Mr. Zagel is a native of Lincoln County having himself graduated from Newport High. Many people will know him from his work with the Newport Boosters Club and with the Newport Rotary Club. He has a “passion for helping kids reach their goals and dreams” and feels that the Foundation is the ideal organization through which to continue this effort. Since his retirement, he has been offered a number of opportunities, but feels “truly fortunate” to have found an organization that so closely fits his own ideals. He looks forward to not only keeping the work of the Foundation going but to helping it grow in the future so that we can provide as much support for the Lincoln County graduates as is possible.
Created in 1965 by a group of Lincoln County citizens, the Lincoln County Foundation has grown from a handful of investors to a portfolio valued at just over $6,000,000 comprised of 74 different funds. With the growth has come an avalanche of additional tasks and responsibilities that have made it challenging for the volunteer Board to adequately serve the students, the schools, and the donors. We enthusiastically welcome Mr. Zagel aboard.
