Do Senior Lives Matter?
We are concerned about how quickly things are reopening in the State and area. We get it that businesses are at risk and people need jobs. It is our understanding Lincoln County has a predominately senior population. Since seniors are at the most risk from dying from Covid-19, the more outside people coming in escalates the risk.
We are getting extremely nervous with all the out of state plates and daytrippers starting to show up. Lincoln County has been fortunate so far with only 8 cases and no deaths (yet) but how long will that last with all these people, most untested and not wearing masks, flooding the area?
It just seems to us that by opening up this early, elected officials are saying senior lives don’t matter, that we’re going to die soon anyway so who cares. If we catch the virus despite the actions we take, it’s our tough luck. We think that is the wrong message to send.
