Governor Brown has given Lincoln County permission to enter in to what is called Phase I recovery from the Covid-19 virus pandemic. Under Phase I restaurants and bars can open, but customers must maintain ten feet of space between tables, and six feet between individuals. Only 10 customers at a time can sit at one table inside a restaurant or bar. All employees must wear a face mask. And all restaurants and bars must close by 10pm.
For barber shops and hair salons, customers must be tended to with six feet between chairs. Barbers and hair salon employees must wear face masks. All customers must be screened before services are rendered to ensure they’re not spreading the Covid-19 virus. For all gyms, customers must be at least six feet apart at all times. All showers and pools will remain shut down. Maximum attendance: 25 people that are at least six feet apart. These conditions will remain in effect until treatment for Covid-19 and a vaccine against Covid-19 are available.
If it is determined that the Covid-19 infection rate is substantially rising again the state will revoke the Phase I designation and everybody goes back home to ride out the surge. How long that process will take is totally unknown. But suffice to say widespread testing, tracing and stay at home procedures will take time to play out. Other countries around the world are well ahead of the United States in snuffing out the virus. But with focused competency and the pursuit of treatment and vaccines, the U.S. will eventually arrive at what will have to be a “new normal.” Until then, keep your seat belts fastened. We’re in Phase I with Phase 2 and 3 waiting in the wings.
