Sheryl Bachart is an extraordinarily good judge. No matter what side they’re on, I don’t know any trial attorneys at the courthouse who would disagree. Or any litigant who can honestly say she is anything but fair. Don’t let the noise her opponent is generating make you forget we already have a great judge.
As happened when he ran for judge in the last election, Russ Baldwin has loads of highly visible endorsements online and in print. And, as before, the letters entirely ignore the fundamental issue: despite being untried, untested, and lacking experience in criminal law (75% of the court’s caseload), Baldwin runs against excellent judges with long-term service to this county who we citizens cannot afford to lose.
When Baldwin ran – and lost – against our presiding judge 2 years ago, he had one argument in his favor. Judge Branford is nearing mandatory retirement age. In this election, Baldwin can’t even make that argument. Sheryl Bachart promises to be one of our natural resources for many years to come. Unless we value loud chatter over proven quality.
Since she left her impressive career in the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office in 2008 to became 1 of our 3 Circuit Court judges, Sheryl Bachart has distinguished herself for twelve years by her compassion, legal expertise, integrity and dignity. We would be fools to vote her out of office.
