A new Year and time for improving your health by adding singing to your regular routine. The Oregon Coast Sweet Adeline Chorus is having open houses for singers at their rehearsal on Thursday nights in January. They meet at 6:30 pm at the American Legion, 424 W Olive, Newport.
Singing increases endorphins, reduces stress and builds a personal skill that can bring joy in one’s life. Women 14 and older are invited to check out the chorus to see if they would like to join the sisterhood of acapella singing. The chorus is part of an international choral organization that include vocal training along with learning songs.
Paula Dahl directs the chorus and enjoys helping members ring chords with good singing. She feels singing brings joy to everyone’s life and encourages women to join in and experience it for themselves. Note reading is not a requirement, members are given CD’s to learn with. People often find after being in the chorus for a while they can read notes. It is like magic for some.
