Wednesday, January 1, 9:45am, South Beach State Park, Newport
Join us on New Year’s Day for a peaceful start to 2020 with a refreshing walk along the ocean and Yaquina bay just south of Newport at South Beach State Park.
We’ll stroll through a nature preserve and under the bridge to the harbor, the Brewery and NOAA. Walk on paths, a bit of sand (if you choose), roadsides and sidewalks. Meet us at 9:45am to sign in for an easy three (5k) or six mile (10k) walk. Walk fast, walk slow, we cheerfully walk at your pace (or give you a map and directions to go faster) and leave no walker behind. As always, the speed and distance (from 3 to 6 miles) are set by those in attendance, though the goal is to finish in time for everyone to return home for family, friends, food and football on the first day of the new year. Dogs are allowed but must be on a six-foot non-extendable lead to walk with us and owners must carry and use appropriate cleanup materials
Meet us at the picnic benches in front of the South Beach State Park Day Use parking lot restrooms by 9:45am to sign in. Walk starts at 10AM. RSVPs are greatly appreciated.
