Oregon’s Congressional delegation Wednesday voted to impeach President Donald Trump for trying to bribe the leader of Ukraine to manufacture “dirt” on presidential challenger Joe Biden and then tried to cover up the bribe by refusing to allow White House Staff and public records to reveal what went on. Abuse of power and then a cover-up, according to Democrats.
And Oregon Democrats voted accordingly: Bonamici, Bluemenauer, DeFazio, and even Schrader voted to impeach. Oregon’s only Republican Congressman Greg Walden voted no. It should be noted that he’s not running for re-election.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appears to be considering a delayed transfer of the House’s “Yes to Impeachment” vote to the Senate. Pelosi, like many other lawmakers, know full well that Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has made it clear he will run the Senate proceedings and will block any attempt to remove President Trump from office. Pelosi may withhold referral to the Senate until the American people get a better understanding on what is involved in the impeachment process and then demand a fair and balanced evaluation by the Senate of the House’s decision to impeach.
