Let’s bring music opportunities to the kids in Toledo and East County region is the theme of a Cello “Meet & Greet” sponsored by the Newport Symphony Orchestra Family Strings program. All are invited to meet with Adrienne Welsh,Newport Symphony Orchestra cellist, a resident of Agate Beach, on Saturday, December 7 at 1:30PM to explore this musical instrument with the idea of classes forming next year at St Johns Episcopal Church, 110 NE Alder Street in Toledo’s Art District. The classes are offered to those serious about learning to play the cello and with the opportunity of cello loans from the NSO Family Strings outreach program. All are welcome to this talk with Welsh and to consider a new learning opportunity in Toledo.
The Yaquina River Museum of Art (YRMA) opens their annual Christmas Crafts & Art from Latin America and Ikons from Europe exhibit at 2:pm December 7 at the School House, 151 NE Alder St. in the Toledo Art District with a short talk given by Judy Gibbons. Gibbons has collected many items while living in 18 years in Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Chile and the public is invited to visit the museum to see this unique collection. Following the talk, we walk across the street to Historic St Johns Church for free refreshments and an old-fashioned holiday music sing-along led by Adrienne Welsh, cello, and Judy Gibbons, piano. All are encouraged to come join the fun and start your holiday season together in Toledo!
