The police emergency Wednesday morning near Toledo Jr/Sr High Schools turned out to be a lot less threatening than it sounded. At the start of the incident police were reporting that someone who wanted to kill himself with a gun near the schools triggered quick response from Toledo Police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. There were reports that the subject either had a gun or had access to one.
As it turned out, law enforcement caught up with the young man and learned that a Lincoln County Court process-server had knocked on his door with a summons. He apparently took off running creating quite a disturbance, sufficient enough for the school administration to lock down both schools.
It didn’t take very long for officers to figure out the situation. No arrests. But it was probably a pretty good school drill. These kinds of incidents with guns in and around school campuses are becoming more and more frequent.
