Local emergency managers offer free seminar on preparedness, Sept. 11
[Sept. 3, 2019 — Newport, Oregon] When disaster strikes would you know what to do to help yourself and your family? A free seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Center for Health Education, 740 SW Ninth St., Newport, will get you started in becoming better prepared for emergencies.
Being prepared for disasters before they strike helps reduce fear and anxiety and can also help reduce the harmful impacts to homes and lives.
Join local experts, Ericka Mason, emergency manager for Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, and Regina Martinez, emergency manager for the City of Newport, as they discuss how to get started in creating your disaster preparedness plan.
They will cover the following topics:
- Personal preparedness
- Emergency checklists
- Hazards in our local community
- Emergency alert systems
- Emergency plan for pets
The seminar is free and open to anyone. Registration is not required.
