SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 — Nye Beach Summer Celebration Season Finale — Well known Portland musician Ellen Saunders will be joining the Thunder & Lightness World Beat Ensemble’s Terry Filer on the Native American flutes and lead drummer Chandler Davis for the Season Finale of this year’s Ninth Annual Nye Beach Summer Celebration. Multicultural traditional and indigenous rhythm and song, surprise musical guests, and the atmosphere of a neighborhood block party. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 — Special Peace Drum Circle — The Newport Community Drum Circle devotes its final drum circle of the summer season to thoughts of peace in recognition of the UN’s International Day of Peace before resuming its regular monthly winter schedule on October 12. The special September drum circle is free and family friendly, as always, and participants are invited to bring songs, poems, or other short statements that they associate with peace.
