Those living today may be watching the death of one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful, if not wondrously elegant creatures on Earth – the Monarch Butterfly. Their numbers are declining as if a mass slaughter is going on to ensure their extinction under the power of bulldozers and pesticide applications, nationwide.
Many monarch-admiring groups and other conservationists are struggling to reverse the tragic end of such a beautiful living ornament in our nation’s natural environment. But it’s not looking very good. The loss of their habitat is, of course, to make way for houses, streets, power line rights-of-way along with toxic applications of pesticides to protect farm crops.
