The 2019 Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show is pleased to present award-winning soul, blues and R&B vocalist/harmonicist/songwriter Curtis Salgado on Saturday, August 17 at 3:30 pm at the Waterfront Park Pavilion. An exciting variety of live music will be making a splash at the Port’s 15th Annual Wooden Boat Show in Toledo, Oregon. Bands will perform throughout the weekend at the Waterfront Park Pavilion stage, Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18. The Port of Toledo’s Waterfront Park is located at 127 NW A Street, Toledo, Oregon.
Port of Toledo’s Wooden Boat Show music director, Paul Bogaard, has been friends since high school with Salgado’s manager, and they have been trying to coordinate Salgado’s performance at the Wooden Boat Show for some time. Bogaard says the Port is excited to have this level of musicianship performing in Toledo. Born in Everett, Washington, Curtis Salgado grew up in Eugene, Oregon. By his early 20s, he was already making a name for himself in Eugene, then Portland, and has gone on to release records and tour internationally. Salgado won three 2013 Blues Music Awards including the coveted B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year. He also won Soul Blues Male Artist Of The Year, and Soul Blues Album Of The Year. In 2017 Salgado won three more Blues Music Awards: Soul Blues Album Of The Year for The Beautiful Lowdown, Song Of The Year for Walk A Mile In My Blues, and Soul Blues Male Artist Of The Year.
Local groups performing at the festival include the McKoys, a 4-piece folk band from Summit; Saundra Perrin from Toledo performing new age folk; Weird Science of Newport playing rock-n-goodies; and jazz by the Greg Ernst Trio of Lincoln City. There will also be performances by acoustic guitarist Terry Robb; McDougall, a one-man band; Robby Laws Trio; and the Sonny Hess Band will perform Sunday at 2:30.
The Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show is a free, fun, family event with something for everyone. Attend for the live music and enjoy the show’s other festivities: boat building, Georgia Pacific Container Board Boat Contest, kids’ activities, food, boat rides, vendors and lots more.
