NEWPORT PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR, JIM PROTIVA LEAVING HIS POSITION
Newport City Manager, Spencer Nebel, reported that the City of Newport Parks and Recreation Director, Jim Protiva, will be leaving his position effective August 2nd. Protiva has served in this position since August of 2005.
Nebel reported that, in the coming weeks, the city plans to conduct a search to fill the position. Judy Mayhew, Recreation Superintendent, will be named Acting Parks and Recreation Director until a replacement is named.
Protiva told News Lincoln County that he’s taking a break from the work-a-day world to do some serious traveling with his wife – Europe and Iceland included. He said it was time for a change and that he enjoyed his many years with the city but that it was definitely time to follow other paths toward other opportunities. Protiva said Newport Parks and Recreation is in good hands and it will continue to do it’s job to give Newport area citizens many opportunities for recreation and staying in shape.
