Oregon Senator Ron Wyden was on the U.S. southern border with Mexico when he came across a latino couple (she pregnant) who wanted to apply for asylum. They told the border agent they were in fear for their own safety back home.
At first, the agent said, “We’re full.” That’s when Senator Ron Wyden stepped in and cited policy that would allow the couple to cross in to the U.S. and seek asylum. Here’s the story in The Oregonian. Click here.
