OREGON COAST RECORDER SOCIETY CONCERT SUNDAY, JUNE 2
The Oregon Coast Recorder Society will perform at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Newport’s Visual Arts Center. This is an annual event presenting music that the recorder society has enjoyed during its 2018-2019 season. From light-hearted to serious, music from medieval times to present, including Bach’s Contrapunctus I, a medieval dance, songs from Shakespeare’s times, meditations on old Czech chorales, a Peruvian dance, a favorite ‘sing-along’ and other pieces.
The Oregon Coast Recorder Society is a chapter of the American Recorder Society. Members play recorders of several sizes, sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, bass, as well as other instruments as needed. For this concert, besides recorders, there will be krumhorns, gemshorns, guitar, and cello.
There will be opportunity after the concert to take a closer look at the instruments and talk with players. Refreshments will be served. OCRS concerts are free and open to the public.
