NEWPORT – The Oregon Boating Foundation, a Newport based nonprofit organization is now offering guided kayak tours of Yaquina Bay. Tours will provide an introduction to the fishing fleet, wildlife, and landmarks of the historic Newport Bayfront, while also providing summer employment opportunities for young people.
The two-hour kayak tours will begin on June 25th and run through September 15 with launch times at 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 6pm from Tuesday through Sunday from Newport’s Port Dock 7. No experience is necessary, and the tours are available to anyone age 6 and over, although participants under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult. All equipment is provided for guests.
“It’s a truly unique way to experience the Newport Bayfront”, says McKenzie Thomas, a certified kayak guide. “Whether learning about the fishing industry, connecting with wildlife, or viewing historic landmarks, it’s an adventure that has something for everyone.”
The organization also offers summer youth camps focused on kayaking and sailing, as well as adult kayak classes. In fact, the certified guides leading the kayak tours have all received extensive training through the organization’s programs. Learn more or book online at PaddleNewport.com.
