The Seal Rock Garden Club cordially invites the public to a free program on rhododendron care, “Rhododendron Care for the Oregon Coast”. Back by popular demand, Mike Bones, owner of Bones Nursery, Florence OR, will speak during the week the Florence Rhododendron Festival is celebrated. Current president of the American Rhododendron Society, Florence Chapter, Mike will discuss how to give your rhodies the care they need in order to thrive in coastal gardens. He will touch on grooming and preparing a truss or a cluster of blooms for a flower show, Festival highlights and a couple of special plant auctions. Mike is a rhododendron grower of more than 50 years and has a large collection of mature plants — some over 20 feet tall, as well as species and hybrids in bloom 8 months of the year in his garden. Recently, he added other plants for a glorious year round display of color, depth and texture. A nursery owner for 45 years, Bones has broad experience working with customers to find the correct plant for the right spot in their gardens. A retired Oregon State Park Ranger and native to Florence, he knows what plants grow well in our coastal environment.
Join us for an informative program; everyone is welcome. The presentation is on Wednesday, May 15 at the Seal Rock Garden Clubhouse at 10377 NW Rand Street, Seal Rock, next to the old Seal Rock Fire Department. It begins at 11:00 a.m. followed by a business meeting and a light lunch.
