Lincoln City City Council fires the shot and it’s full speed ahead on improvements to the LC Cultural Center
Thanks to the generosity of the Lincoln City City Council and it’s check this week for $199,000, other local donations, along with a likely $600,000 boost from the state legislature, excitement is building in anticipation that the outdoor improvements to the Lincoln City Cultural Center are probably right on track to produce a construction start date in June of next year.
The nearly two million dollar upgrade will need a little more money but Cultural Center Director Nikki Price says some of Lincoln City’s well-to-do inhabitants will likely narrow, if not fill the money gap. There’s a tendency for wealthy folks to provide the last big chunk of money – not the first.
On the drawing board is a total face-lift for the entire area around the Cultural Center building which will provide very attractive visual appeal from Highway 101. There will also be lots of wandering room for local and tourist activities on the grounds. There will be numerous benches available, sidewalks and plazas where people can meander and just hang out and talk with friends as they shop the farmer’s market, take in an art show, listen to live music, even enjoy theatrical scenes of current or upcoming performances inside the center itself.
So this time next year there will a lot going on down there at the Lincoln City Cultural Center with everything being erected and installed so that the center’s magnetism will just keep-on growing. Good for locals – good for tourists.
