Another wave of renovations at the Logsden Community Center

Laurie Schmidt and father Art Ray
Helping to refurbish the Logsden Community Center.

A packed house of over 60 people turned out to celebrate the improvements to the Logsden Community Center made possible by a grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contributions Fund. The April 13 meeting featured not only the monthly sumptuous potluck but also an informative presentation on domestic water quality and testing.

The rainy evening did not deter people from turning out to learn of a free water testing program. Amy Chapman of the Lincoln County Health Department and Chrissy Lucas of the OSU Extension Service gave a lengthy presentation sharing information on water quality contaminants and ways to protect and improve domestic water systems. Free testing of domestic water sources is also being offered to local residents with grant funds awarded to the Lincoln County Health Department. Contact Amy at 541-265-0431 for more information on this program.

This is just one of many informative meetings that the Logsden Community Club will be hosting in the refurbished facility. New flooring, insulation and heating has been installed by dedicated community volunteers with funds provided by a grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contributions Fund.

Doing the flooring!

The Logsden Community Club meets nearly every month on the second Saturday at 6:30pm. The Club donates a portion of its’ profits back to the community including the Siletz Valley Volunteer Firefighters and most recently to Bright Horizons Therapeutic Riding Center. The Logsden Community Center, located at the junction of the Logsden/ Siletz Highway and Moonshine Park Road, is available to rent and is a wonderful location for local gatherings including weddings, family reunions, memorials and other celebrations. The facility also houses a commercial kitchen for cottage industry entrepreneurs who market culinary items and is currently working with the Red Cross to become designated as an emergency warming shelter. Rental rates for events at the center are reduced for individuals who become members of the Logsden Community Club. Find us on Facebook at Logsden Community Club.
