The National Day of Prayer will be Thursday, May 2 at 6:00pm at Gleneden Beach Christian Church at 7170 Church Avenue in Gleneden Beach. This is a national event held in over 50,000 locations. This year’s theme is a call to Love One Another. This local event is sponsored by the North Lincoln Ministerial Association.
Next week, Americans across all 50 states will gather in churches, local businesses, the steps of city halls, schools, neighborhoods and public gathering places for a day of public prayer for the United States of America.
As mentioned above, Thursday, May 2, is the National Day of Prayer. While the National Day of Prayer has occurred since 1952, 31 years ago, President Ronald Reagan signed a law designating it as always being the first Thursday of May.
This year’s National Day of Prayer theme is “Love One Another.” The theme comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.” “We tend to forget that Jesus didn’t say we would be known by our creeds or by our knowledge or how much we know about the Bible. He said we would be known only by our love,” Dr. Ronnie Floyd said. And love has been painfully absent in America in so many ways.”
