Newport Symphony Orchestra Welcomes Spring Saturday and Sunday at the PAC
“Spring Bursts Forth” is the theme of the first of two spring concerts performed by the Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Ocean this Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:00pm at the Performing Arts Center.
Music Director and Conductor Adam Flatt will lead the Orchestra in performances of Claude Debussy’s “Rondes du Printemps”, Clara Schumann’s “Piano Concerto” and Prokofiev’s “Piano Concerto Number 1”. Guest artist is pianist Amy Yang. Hailed by The Washington Post as a “jaw-dropping pianist who steals the show…with effortless finesse.” Yang is a seasoned soloist and chamber musician.
Ms. Yang is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, and The Yale School of Music, where she received the Parisot Prize for an Outstanding Pianist as well as the Alumni Association Prize. She has performed in major music halls all over the world.
The spring concert will conclude with French Composer Lili Boulanger’s “d’Un Matin du Printemps” and George Gershwin’s classic “An American in Paris.”
Performances are this Saturday at 7:30p.m. with a pre-concert talk by Conductor Adam Flatt at 6:45p.m. Sunday’s performance commences at 2:00p.m. Following each concert the NSO will again feature a special complimentary Wine Down featuring select wines from the Flying Dutchman Winery of Otter Rock plus a delicious array of food items.
