In what can be described as going after the rich and their second homes in order to raise funds for affordable housing has been launched in the Oregon Legislature. Eliminating the second home write-off in those cases would raise $150 million a year according to some lawmakers. Senate Bill 3349 calls for that money to be directed to programs that promote homeownership among lower income Oregon families and to help prevent homelessness.
