LINCOLN CITY – Looking for a way to score early Valentine’s Day points with your sweetheart? Bring him or her to the Lincoln City Cultural Center on Saturday, Feb. 9, for the annual celebration of romantic music and classics from the Great American songbook. The Lincoln Pops Orchestra, a 25-piece band that really knows how to swing, will be playing three sets of Big Band classics, from swing to samba and from foxtrot to polka. Come to dance or just sit and listen – the fun starts at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30.

Advance tickets are $13 for individuals, $25 for two people (and LCCC members get $2 off). Included in your admission price is a long-stemmed flower for every lady, yummy heart-shaped cookies, sweetheart décor, and freshly made punch. Northwest beer and wine will be sold separately. To purchase, head to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org (click “Buy Tickets”), call 541-994-9994, or drop by the LCCC Info Center, open 10-5 Thursday through Monday.

They’re inspired by Harry James, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and many more.

Led by trumpet artist John Bringetto, the 25-member Lincoln Pops plays all types of dance music, including swing, Latin and jazz tunes. Members include current and retired professional musicians, band directors, former high school and college players, and even a few talented local high school students.
