The Lincoln City City Council this week finally put the cherry on top of a long running proposal to change the way Highway 101 traffic turns on to Jetty Way, south to Cutler City.
For decades, traffic headed south on 101 would veer off to the south at The Bay House Restaurant and then continue on into Cutler City. Those approaching from the south had to find their own way into that part the area using SW 62nd or 63rd.
The city council, acting as its own urban renewal board, awarded a contract to a Portland area contractor to tear up the old Jetty Way thereby expanding parking for The Bay House. The contractor will then create a regular T-bone intersection very close to the recently rebuilt Crab Pot restaurant. So where the old Jetty Way access was one way south (at an angle to 101), the new Jetty Way will intersect with 101 by the Crab Pot, creating regular “T” intersection.
No estimated time of completion was mentioned during the meeting.
