From Lincoln City Police Chief Jerry Palmer:
It was brought to the attention of Lincoln City Police that two incidents that occurred last week in the area of City Hall/McKay’s Market have been discussed on local social media pages. So we would like to clarify the speculation and conjecture with the facts:
On January 18th, a female was reportedly cornered in the elevators at City Hall by a male described as a 6’ to 6’6” caucasian. He was wearing a large, puffy, blue jacket, rain pants and a dark colored beanie. The male did not say anything to the female but moved to stand directly in front of her and faced her. When she asked him to move, he would not. The female shoved the male aside, exited the elevator and left the area. This incident was not initially reported to the police.
The next day a female reported to Lincoln City Police that she drove into a parking space in the parking lot of McKay’s Market and saw, in the vehicle next to her, a male waving a gun around. She stated that the music from the car was loud and he appeared to be waving the firearm around to the beat to the music. The male looked over at her and pointed the gun in her direction. She then left the parking spot and moved to another.
The male was described as an African American in his 20s with curly hair, in a cobalt blue, 4-door sedan with unknown plates. Police responded to this incident, but the vehicle was gone before their arrival.
Anyone having any information about either of these incidents should contact Detective Jayne Johnson or Officer Torin Liden at (541) 994-3636.
