We’ve got some solutions
The Youth Development Coalition of Lincoln County (YDC) is working in partnership with DHS to provide employment and education services to young adults in Lincoln County.
The YDC received a grant from DHS for the Step-Up Program, to work with youth ages 18-24 who receive SNAP benefits. To learn more, attend a free program orientation every Friday at the Avery Building (120 NE Avery) in Newport at 10 AM.
The program provides employment and education support from start to finish, including:
* training in how to search for a job
* academic assessment and basic workplace certifications
* job search support
* connections to vocational training
* systems navigation
* job retention
Program staff are available across the county. To participate, a young adult must be between the ages of 18-24, live in Lincoln County, and be eligible for SNAP benefits. Recipients of TANF (households with children) are not eligible for this program.
Interested people should contact the YDC at 541-265-5326 x317
Or ask their DHS SNAP Benefit and Eligibility worker for a referral.
