From John and Cecilia Kennedy:
So many businesses all around us. They make their living, bring in profits and support hard working employees.
There are some I have obviously missed, but a couple fine companies need recognition for their support to our local communities. And they deserve our business to support them to assure their health and prosperity. These are main sources of selfless donations to the homeless and those in need. Their donations are not broadcast front page. Just silent gifts going on week after week to help rebuild lives. They are not seeking recognition, but just doing what is moral and right. Involved directly in our community to help those less fortunate. Time to focus a spotlight on our benefactors. So many lives are being helped.
Safeway and the Dollar Store
Safeway is continually donating viable foods to feed the homeless and less fortunate. It would be hard to maintain the kitchen flow of food without their generous help.
Dollar Store donating clothing, kitchen utensils, items of need.
Thank you Dollar Store so very much for your sustained effort to support the community. It is appreciated – it is needed, it is good karma, it is blessed in the eyes of God.
Please support these good organizations because they have stepped forward and are supporting us.
Not to forget also the private donations received by caring and good citizens. With all the bad news every time you turn on a TV, what I see is proof that there is so much good happening all around us and so much good in the heart of the day to day resident in our coastal residents.
The Warming Shelter up north in Lincoln City (old Taft Fire Hall off SE 48th) can still use a food blender and a large food processor/chopper to make meals in bulk. We seem to be an otherwise disconnected bunch of volunteers giving our time to something greater than ourselves. The reward as stated by the veterans who have been doing this for years. They say it is something beautiful that you can’t really put a tag on but it keeps them coming back for another shift.
We can still use volunteers of all skill levels. Can you cook, paint, fix things, administer the front desk, help sort clothing donations. Help out anywhere you can. Sounds trite and corny, but a glimpse of heaven (hard earned) awaits.
Very best to all of you. Deep appreciation to all of you for your donations. And please don’t forget to keep Dollar Store and Safeway strong by our patronage. These guys have proven they care about us.
