We hear it all the time that America’s tax system dramatically favors the rich because they get so many deductions and allowances. A recent Oregon tax study shows big corporations often pay taxes at a rate far below what regular Oregon families pay. And because of that, roads are rougher, schools are crowded, college is largely unaffordable, medical care is through the roof, sewer and water bills are higher and property taxes have inflated to painful heights.
