The event date has been changed to Wednesday, December 19 @ 9am due to extreme weather forecasted for tomorrow.
Come join ODFW and friends for a CleanUp event at Oysterville Slough on the Yaquina River Wednesday, December 19th at 9am. A large deposit of dock flotation, tires and miscellaneous trash has been found up this small slough just to the west of the Oregon Oyster Farm, and we would like to get as much of it out of the slough as possible before the King Tides later this month.
The work involves walking on uneven terrain and moving some large, heavy and awkward items, but there is some lighter duty Styrofoam and roadside trash collection work as well. Bring muck boots and water. This will be a full day event, but stay as long as you like.
Volunteers should park at the Oregon Oyster Farm parking lot on the North side of Yaquina Bay Rd and walk 0.1 miles west on the Yaquina Bay Rd to the Lincoln County day use area known as “Half Way Park”. There is an interpretive sign there with historical information about the Oysterville site.
The Oregon Oyster Farm is located at 6878 Yaquina Bay Rd (6.8 miles east of Newport). Contact Christine to RSVP or for more information 541-265-8306 x253. Lunch will be provided if you RSVP by Monday, December 17th.
Thank you for your help improving the Yaquina River!
