Samaritan Health Services in Lincoln City is offering an upcoming class, Prevent T2, for those who have pre-diabetes or other risk factors for type 2 diabetes. The next series will begin on Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.
Prevent T2 is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It features an approach that is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
As part of the Prevent T2 group, you will work with a trained lifestyle coach and other participants to learn the skills you need to make lasting changes. You will learn to eat healthy, add physical activity to your life, manage stress, stay motivated and solve problems that can get in the way of healthy changes.
Prevent T2 is a year-long program with weekly meetings for the first four months, and twice per month or monthly for the following eight months to help you maintain your healthy lifestyle changes. By meeting with others who have prediabetes, you can celebrate each other’s successes and work to overcome obstacles.
